Speech Therapist
Laura is a licensed speech-language pathologist who received her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Duquesne University. She holds her certificate of clinical competence (CCC) through the American Speech and Hearing Association and is also a licensed speech specialist through the Department of Education in New Jersey Public Schools.
Laura is a passionate advocate within the field of neurodiversity, recently creating and teaching a high school course to teach students about various neurotypes and differences in individuals. She has experience treating autistic individuals ages 1-18 years of age with varying strengths and needs. She also has worked with individuals with varying receptive/expressive language, articulation, phonological disorders, fluency, apraxia of speech, pragmatic language and AAC needs. Laura is level one PROMPT trained, and has been trained on DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing) as well for Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Laura has experience working within in-home therapy, clinical settings and within the public school systems.
Laura’s main goal as a speech therapist is to teach functional communication that embraces self-advocacy and autonomy for all individuals, and empower families and individuals to feel confident about their communication skills. She loves play-based therapy, prioritizing regulation, and being silly along the way. When she’s not working, Laura enjoys hiking, amateur bird watching, and being an “Aunt of Chaos” to her niece and nephew.
