Monet Lescow,
M.S. CF-SLP

Speech Therapist

Monet received her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a double major in English from Davidson College.

Drawing from extensive externship experiences in an elementary school, an outpatient feeding hospital clinic, and a pediatric private practice focused on autism and AAC, Monet brings a rich and varied skill set in providing speech, language, and feeding/swallowing therapy to children with a wide range of needs. In the elementary school setting, she worked closely with preschool through 5th grade students to support articulation, expressive/receptive language, and social skills to maximize academic performance and wellbeing in the classroom. At her UNC Hospital placement, Monet gained valuable experience performing and analyzing modified barium swallow studies on infants and children. Monet also developed and implemented individualized treatment plans and goals to support feeding development and safe swallowing. In the private practice setting, Monet worked with a variety of neurodivergent clients, where she worked on AAC goals, cognitive skills, and social language. Monet was informally trained in the Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) framework and used this knowledge to inform her work with gestalt language processors. Monet also participated in autism social groups for various ages, where she gained insight into supporting pragmatic language goals, sensory needs, and emotional regulation. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in neurodiversity-affirming, evidence-based principles, where children’s unique strengths are recognized and celebrated. Monet aims to meet children where they are and provide them the necessary tools for continued growth and development.

Outside of work, Monet enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and their dog, Gooseberry! Monet also likes trying new restaurants, traveling, reading, and yoga!
